Club-Mate

Club-Mate

Club-mate is a German soda which main ingredient is Yerba Mate. For reasons the drink is famous in the hacker and club scene.

The drink itself looks a bit like a carbonated terere. After finding the ]Lag( Mate page I decided to do something similar, but trying to be more similar to chimarrao than the original Club-Mate flavour.

I still did not play with ways of making it carbonated. I will update once I have done it.

Since I’m in Europe, it means that Yerba Mate is more expensive than in Brasil and the (good) Brasilian herb is more hard to find in Ireland, I decided to use Cruz de Malta Yerba Mate as the herb for this drink. The taste is a bit stronger than the Brasilian one.

Before starting, some tips:

Special Version - The calm mule

Version with calming herbs as well.

Test 3

Mix the clove, ginger, salt, black pepper and cinnamon with the 0.5 liters of water, boil it for 5 minutes, let the temperature of the water reduce a bit and add the mate and molasses. Leave it to rest for 20 minutes.

When cold, put in a container witht he citric acid, leave it in the frigde. To drink, add the carbonated water to a glass (half of it) and add the tea you made 😃
