Very similar to the Anime, to be honest I’m not sure if the manga covers the whole story, but since I knew it by heart now (after watching several times the anime) I was not lost/missed anything on the manga version.
The Secret Commonwealth (The book of Dust #2)
The book seems more “adult” than the original series. I feel a bit uneasy due to the fact that Lyra broke destiny on the original series and in this one it seems to me that she is just following “her destiny” again. The author said this happens in a paralel world, but in theory she brough free will to all the worlds.
I discovered I don’t know anything about Venezuela history. Also, Chávez is much smater than I thought. It’s interesting to see his plans to make Venezuela a more just place.
Very interesting book if you want to know the origins of Liberalism. It’s amazing how since its roots the movement is about “free of the private property” without thinking on the human beings. For example, they defended slavery because the slave was part of the “private property” of the masters, so the state shouldn’t intefer. Also, very interesting to learn that for those people even white European people were not “very white” if they came from Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Amazing book to have a better feel at the Protestants. It seems like the Anabaptists were fighting for a world without a ruling class, where the pesants would leave free. For example the German Peasants’ War. How can some religious leaders these days say they follow more or less this view and support the far-right?
